Grown up in the countryside near Treviso, in the North-East of Italy, playing basketball, handball and volleyball. My grandmother Maria put me on a bike when I was 5 and taught me how to ride. She wasn’t patient but very stubborn so at the end she managed to get the job done (kudos to her).
Moved to southern Sweden in 2007 to study Controls at Lund University. I picked up triathlons there, inspired by some fellow PhD students doing the Swedish Classic and raced for the first time a Sprint distance event in 2011.
Full-time scientist, Linux-user and everything distributed open source, after a stint in California during 2014, I’m currently based in Melbourne working as a research fellow at Melbourne University.
I believe in sharing experiences, information, knowledge to promote advances in any matter, sport included. In triathlon for a few years, I’m very passionate about everything swim-bike-run and I consider myself privileged to be able to do what I love. Not a big fan of Ironman I don’t feel the necessity of doing one. I like the “fast and furious” type of racing, the speed, the power. Feeling my body strong, able to perform to the best of my abilities, responding to what I’m asking it during a race, leaving it all out there on the course, indeed, makes me feel fulfilled, no matter the overall results. It’s one of the best feelings ever and I would encourage everyone to “tri”. I don’t fear racing and hence I do it often. Embracing new challenges and putting myself out of the comfort zone leads to new discoveries every time. I’m not afraid of failures, I’m not a quitter, I never give up. I may loose some battles along the way but I’m going to win the war at the end. Bad days do actually happen, but you can choose to reset yourself and give it another go. Believe, always!
